Soy Latino, Sí Voto Popular Voter Engagement Campaign Relaunched with Expanded Partnerships and Growing Investments

Award-winning nationally syndicated cartoonist, Lalo Alcaraz, will provide strategic, issue-oriented cartoons to energize the Latino electorate.

Washington D.C. and Phoenix, Arizona – Corazón Latino and EcoMadres announced the relaunch of the acclaimed Soy Latino, Sí Voto (SLSV) voter engagement campaign ahead of the 2022 midterm elections. SLSV targets voting-age Latinos nationwide, focusing on Arizona, Georgia, Pennsylvania, and Nevada. The campaign seeks to engage one million Latino eligible voters.

Corazón Latino and EcoMadres are national non-profit organizations working on conservation, health, and environmental issues. Their partnership reflects the intersection of conservation and civic engagement and is part of a more significant expansion of the SLSV campaign.

Lalo Alcaraz, an award-winning nationally syndicated cartoonist, will join the campaign by creating weekly editorial cartoons focused on Latino issues such as jobs and inflation.

“ I couldn’t be more excited about creating voter engagement cartoons and making sure Latinos come out and raise their voices through the ballot box.” – Lalo Alcaraz.

“We know that clean air and water are essential for healthy lives. EcoMadres, the Latino community outreach program of Moms Clean Air Force, and their advocates around the country are leading the charge to bring awareness of these critical issues to their communities. The SLSV campaign is an important step forward in continuing this work and making sure we have a livable planet for our children. “ –Carolina Peña, Program Manager, EcoMadres

The Latino vote continues to grow its influence in key national races. SLSV will help offset the lack of political investments in Latino communities. By engaging equitably in these communities - culturally relevant and linguistically appropriate messaging - Latinos are better equipped to participate in elections.

“Latinos continue to show up and vote about the issues they care about the most: safety, their wallets, and a livable planet. We look forward to designing a compelling series of cartoons, videos, and articles that will breathe new life into the midterm elections and beyond.” – Felipe Benitez, Executive Director, Corazón Latino.

According to UnidosUS, around one million U.S.-born Latinos become eligible voters yearly, meaning that over the last two years, two million more Latinos can vote.
