Corazón Latino statement on the death of Carlos Ingram López

Statement from Felipe Benítez, Executive Director of  Corazón Latino, on the death of Carlos Ingram López by police officers in Tucson, Arizona on April 21, 2020.

“We are outraged by the death of Carlos Ingram López while in custody of the Tucson Police Department. This vile act is yet another disturbing example of police brutality against people of color, and we demand that the perpetrators be brought to justice and be held accountable for their actions. We will continue to rally with our brothers and sisters in the Black Lives Matter movement, and we remain steadfast in the fight for wholesale transformation of police departments and the eradication of systemic racism in those and other institutions.”
