As Polls Open in Virginia, Corazón Latino Sets the Stage for Sustained Latino Civic Engagement Leading to the 2024 Presidential Election
Soy Latino. Sí Voto campaign reached thousands Latino voters in the Commonwealth with culturally relevant content and cutting edge technology.
ARLINGTON, VA - As the polls open on this historic Election Day, Corazón Latino celebrates the remarkable surge in early voting and civic participation in the Commonwealth of Virginia. This election, though not a presidential or gubernatorial race, has witnessed great enthusiasm and turnout from Virginia voters.
"We are truly inspired by the dedication and commitment of Latino voters in Virginia who have demonstrated their belief in the power of the ballot. This election has shown that every voice matters, even in non-presidential years," said Felipe Benítez, Executive Director of Corazón Latino.
During this election cycle, Corazón Latino, through its award-winning program Soy Latino. Sí Voto reached over 100,000 Latino voters in the Commonwealth. This achievement was made possible through culturally relevant and linguistically appropriate messaging, as well as the extraordinary talent of artists such as Jonathan Acosta, Ale Croatto, and Lalo Alcaraz. The campaign also harnessed cutting-edge technology to engage Latino voters effectively.
“With the 2024 Presidential Election just 52 weeks away, Corazón Latino remains committed to sustaining this momentum and expanding our engagement efforts. We will continue our work in Virginia and across the nation to educate, inspire, and mobilize Latino voters, ensuring that their voices are heard in the critical decisions that shape our country's future,” said Benítez
“While we congratulate the winners of today's election, we also want to remind them that our commitment extends beyond the ballot box. Corazón Latino, along with our community, will hold our elected officials accountable for the promises they've made during their campaigns. Our mission and work continues: to empower and elevate the voices of all Latinos, creating a more inclusive and just democracy for future generations.”
