Corazón Latino Celebrates Latino Conservation Week with Live Music, Heart and Togetherness 🌳

 

Washington, D.C. – Corazón Latino, a Latino-led conservation and advocacy group, announced its Latino Conservation Week activities to celebrate connections with nature and their passions for preservation and healing of the lands and waters. 

Latino Conservation Week runs July 17 to 25th. Corazon Latino’s activities for the 2021 Latino Conservation Week include family-friendly live music, connections with partner agencies supporting conservation, outdoor access and advocacy. They will be held in Phoenix, Arizona on Saturday, July 17 and on Sunday, July 18 in Washington, D.C. with an additional virtual conversation to be announced for Friday, July 23rd.

“We're celebrating our love and care for nature, by honoring  our Madre Tierra – Mother Earth – and our culture.  This is an intentional act of togetherness following a complex year for families grappling with the pandemic,” said Felipe Benitez, Executive Director of Corazón Latino.

This free event includes live music by award-winning tenor Jesús Daniel Hernández, Trío Caliente and conservation education activities for all the family. We are celebrating the reopening of the Rock Creek Park Nature Center! Activities outdoors under the shade trees, to learn and appreciate more about our public lands and the creatures who live in them - right in the middle of Washington DC. Live music performed by internationally celebrated tenor Jesús Daniel Hernandez and Trio Caliente.

Pajareo y Chilaquiles is an evento to celebrate our food and culture of embracing nature and its healing qualities. We will have breakfast prepared by local celebrity chef Chilo Chacón to feed our souls and we’ll also hold a birdwatching walk with members of the Latino community and partners at the Audubon Río Salado Center.
