Dear Corazón Latino familia:
Hard to believe, but since summer snuck up on us, we are ready to observe National Forest Week (07/13-07/19) and Latino Conservation Week (07/18-07/25)! We will celebrate with a two-week series of online international events that highlight Latinos’ passion for Mother Nature.
From Monterrey (México) to Fajardo (Puerto Rico) to the Sonoran Desert (Arizona), we will enjoy performances by world-class musical performers ranging from guitarists, troubadours, opera singers, tango performers, and mariachis.
We will also host conversations about the 5th Anniversary of Pope Francis’s encyclical “Laudato Si’” and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in our public lands.
To nurture the connections between health and nature, we will host fitness and yoga classes and forest therapy sessions.
We will add more events and details in upcoming days.
For the latest information, follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
Yours,
The Corazón Latino Team

Our friend Ale Croatto joins us from Las Croabas (Fajardo), Puerto Rico, for a concert with a clear call to action: Make yourself count -- participate in the 2020 Census. Join us for a conversation to explore the several facets that pull us, as Latinos, toward nature. From the faith perspective, we will hear about the call from Pope Francis for the faithful to Care for our Common Home. From the science perspective, we will hear about the interconnectedness of ecosystem and the balance that keeps everything in check. Lastly, from the health & wellness point of view, how the simple act of being in nature has a positive physical and mental effect on us.
Join environmental advocate Alejandra Santaolalla, founder of Color with Luna, and Betsy López-Wagner, Principal and Chief Strategist at López-Wagner Strategies, for a special Latino Conservation Week conversation. The duo will share reflections on their own work to create inclusive experiences and environments of belonging, using language that is more equitable and just, and some takeaways from a recent training they designed and ran for docents, program guides engaging with park visitors and guests in one of California's regional park systems. Together they'll discuss equitable communications, what fuels their climate activism and why it's more important than ever to establish community in the great outdoors and in the environmental movement.
Our celebration of National Forest Week and Latino Conservation Week continues! This special concert from the magnificent Saguaro National Park in Tucson, Arizona will celebrate Latino culture, conservation, and our public lands. Join us for mariachis, dance, and lots of fun from the desert!
Our Latino Conservation Week and National Forest Week celebrations end with a bang! We will have a special concert with world-class tenor Jesús Daniel Hernández accompanied by guitarist Michael Bard and singer Deborah Benner from Dúo Caliente. This event also launches a collaboration between the National Park Service Chesapeake Bay and Corazón Latino as we inspire Latino communities to engage with public lands in the region.
