2024 National Public Lands Day Signature Event

Join us for National Public Lands Day on September 28, 2024!

Since 1994, NPLD has been the nation's largest single-day volunteer effort, and this year’s theme, emphasizes the importance of caring for public lands for future generations. In addition to the service project, the family-friendly event will include:

  • Composting/work bin

  • Honey tasting

  • Nature explorer classroom indoor activities

  • Forest Bathing mini-session

  • Buffalo soldiers history booth

  • Forest Service Find Your Forest story time or activity

  • Meet Woodsy the Owl or other fun characters

  • NEEF grantee highlight booth

The fun will be held at the Washington Youth Garden and admission is free (although registration is encouraged!)

Parking is available in the Arboretum at Fern Valley and National Grove of State Trees lots. The closest Metrorail subway stop is Stadium Armory Station on the Blue and Orange lines. Take Metrobus B-2 to Bladensburg Road, walk to R Street entrance.
