Location: NorthBay Adventure Camp

 11 Horseshoe Point Lane, North East, MD 21901

Participants: 30 members of the DC/MD/VA community.

Description: Please join the US Forest Service, National Park Trust, National Park Service, Park Rx America, and Corazón Latino for an overnight outdoor experience at North Bay Adventures, located in northern MD, approx. 30 minutes north of Baltimore. Come on an adventure to discover the outdoors using nature-based observation, and learn from outdoor experts and naturalists about ways to connect to the natural world. There will also be ample free time to explore the adventure camp's activities that include high ropes, giant swing, zip line, canoes, the gym and a game room. All meals and sleeping accommodations (tents or cabins) will be provided.  Please specify your preference.  Space is limited and both sleeping accommodations and this fabulous opportunity are on a first come-first serve basis. There is no cost for this program.

Please RSVP no later than May 7. 

Food: NorthBay will provide 3 meals: May 11 - dinner and May 12 - breakfast and lunch

Sleeping AccommodationsTents and cabins are available. Tents sleep 3-4 people and cabins can sleep up to 6. Sleeping pads, sleeping bags, and sheets are provided (pillows are not provided).  Please include your preference in the RSVP.  Accommodations are on a first come-first serve basis.

Required Forms:

  • NorthBay Adventures release, medical and food allergy form.
  • USFS Photo release.

Transportation:  Families are welcome to travel on their own to NorthBay.  If you require transportation support, please indicate it in the RSVP form.

Timeline:

Friday 5/11

Families arrive after 5 PM 

7:00-8:00 PM - Dinner

8:00-10:00 PM - Activities will include: movies (American Ascent or other), campfire, night hikes and/or night observation activities

Saturday 5/12

8:00-9:30 AM - Breakfast, wake up, and campsite/cabin clean up

9:30-11:30 AM - Rotation of health and nature, citizen science and conservation activities

11:30 AM-12:00 PM - Free time

12:00-1:00 PM Lunch

1:00-4:30 PM NorthBay Activities -  includes high ropes, giant swing, zip line, canoes, the gym and game room.

5:00PM - Departure
