August 7, 2018

Why:
Because trees are a big part of the game of baseball. The Ash tree that we saw at Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens is the same species of tree used to make bats for baseball. Ash is the wood of choice for baseball bats because of its strength and durability. The emerald ash borer, an invasive beetle from Asia, has destroyed millions of ash trees across the United States. Making it more difficult for the game of baseball to use Ash bats that don’t break as easily as other species.
