Tu B’Shevat is the holiday of the trees, chag hailanot, the birthday of the trees. We have reached the midpoint of winter: the days are getting longer, the temperature rising, the majority of the year’s rains (in Israel) have fallen, and the sap of the trees starts to rise. As a result, the first fruits begin to form on the trees. And so we celebrate by eating specific fruits and nuts in a ceremony called a tu Bi shvat seder. We will share thoughts about the mystical symbolism of different fruits and (hopefully) connect to God through contemplation of nature’s beauty and gratitude for the sustenance it provides.
The program will start with a 20-30 minute forest bathing session (forest therapy), in which a forest bathing guide will help us become attuned to the ways trees and nature affect us spiritually and physically. This will be followed by a 30+ minute Seder featuring a sampling of fruit, nuts, and wine. People can stay after to eat, drink, and be joyful in the forest :-)
Remember to bring hats, gloves, and an umbrella just in case (it’s not supposed to rain, but ya know, nature!)
Event is FREE but registration is required
EVERYBODY IS WELCOMED!
